Your Mental Health 101

The Urban Mental Health Alliance was created based on founder Kimme Carlos' personal experience with the stigma around mental health in inner-city communities. This grant enabled the nascent organization to pilot a series of workshops at the Carver Center on mental health awareness and how to support oneself or a family member in receiving the help they need. Additional support in 2015 helped UMHA continue growing into a citywide nonprofit.

La Alianza Urbana de Salud Mental (The Urban Mental Health Alliance) se creó basándose en la experiencia personal de su fundadora, Kimme Carlos, con el estigma en torno a la salud mental en comunidades urbanas. Esta subvención permitió a la organización incipiente llevar a cabo una serie de talleres en el Centro Carver sobre concientización en salud mental y cómo brindar apoyo a uno mismo o a un miembro de la familia para obtener la ayuda que necesitan. El apoyo adicional en 2015 ayudó a UMHA a continuar creciendo y convertirse en una organización sin fines de lucro en toda la ciudad.
