Greater Mt. Zion Preserves its History in Old Trenton
The Greater Mt. Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church is the oldest African American church in Trenton, whose founding parishioners began meeting in a blacksmith's shop on Perry Street in 1797. Greater Mt. Zion CDC will create a public museum space in its former church building on Perry Street to tell the story of the church and its community to residents, schools, and the state of New Jersey.
