Yoga and Wellness in THDC

The Sheltered Yoga program is designed for inner city communities. This project enabled Sheltered Yoga to expand from one location in the neighborhood, French Towers, to four additional locations: North 25 Apts., Rowan Towers, Delaware View, and Bellevue Cottage Garden. The project built a strong following in the neighborhood, primarily from residents who had never experienced yoga before, and strengthened the organization's capacity by helping it to decentralize yoga instruction by piloting a model where community members themselves are trained and carry on yoga instruction for their peers. One of the first community instructors was long-time THDC participant Ms. Vicki of French Towers.

El programa de Yoga Albergado (Sheltered Yoga) está diseñado para comunidades del centro de la ciudad. Este proyecto permitió que Yoga Albergado se expandiera desde una ubicación en el vecindario, French Towers, a cuatro ubicaciones adicionales: North 25 Apts., Rowan Towers, Delaware View y Bellevue Cottage Garden. El proyecto generó muchos seguidores en el vecindario, principalmente de residentes que nunca antes habían experimentado el yoga, y fortaleció la capacidad de la organización ayudándola a descentralizar la instrucción de yoga al poner a prueba un modelo en el que los miembros de la comunidad se capacitan y llevan a cabo la instrucción de yoga para sus compañeros.
